Orchard Primary School Sports Day.

June 2010 – Orchard Primary School Sports Day

iCare Challenge:

This iCare challenge involved facilitating a sports day for year 6 children (10-11 years old) from a local school in Hackney. The children at this community school were escorted to and from the venue, and they helped setting up and taking part in the various sporting activities.  The activities included football, rounders and british bulldog – seeing the kids enjoy the day made the whole event worthwhile. Our Reed and Mackay volunteers joined in with the kids teams, the mix hat the the kids brought to the team was fantastic – all having something to say  and all extremely excited to mingle witht he adults.

The aim of the challenge was to provide support to the school to help achieve its aims of developing the potential of every child, regardless of ability, race or gender.

Quotes:

It was a brilliant day, every muscle hurts today though. The kids were all very enthusiastic and it was great to see them all enjoying themselves. To know that this was a team effort made the day extremely enjoyable.

- Adele White, Implant Operations

What a great day. I don’t know who had more fun – me or the kids!

-  Phil Hines, Operations

I thought the day went brilliantly, the teams involved were great and resulted in the kids having a really special day. You only had to lok at the enormous smileds on the kids faces to see how much they were enjoying their day and it will definetly be one which they will look back on fondly.
